Historic and collectible cars over 30 years old pay a reduced flat-rate road tax of €28.40/year if registered in recognized historic registers (ASI, FMI, etc.). Cars over 40 years old are completely exempt if not driven on public roads.

Is road tax due even if the car is parked (not driven)?

Calculate your road tax with Veneto 2026 rates

Veneto 2026 rates: €2.58/kW for the first 100 kW + €3.87/kW for kW above 100 (identical to the national base rate). Practical examples: 70 kW car (e.g. Fiat 500) → €180.60/year. 85 kW car (e.g. VW Golf) → €219.30/year. 110 kW car (e.g. BMW 1 Series) → €296.40/year. Check via ACI (aci.it) by entering your plate for the exact calculation.

If you have a car registered in a Veneto province but reside elsewhere, road tax is paid in the owner's region of residence, not the plate region.

Check the deadline from registration date

Road tax expires on the last day of the month preceding the first registration month. The date is in the vehicle registration document — field 'B' (first registration date). Example: car registered April 15 → road tax expires March 31 each year. You can also verify online at aci.it by entering the plate.

Road tax has a 30-day grace period. If it expires March 31, you can pay by April 30 without penalties.

Pay online or at a tobacconist

Fastest method: bollo.agenziaentrate.it by card. Alternatively: IO app, online banking (F24), ACI counter, tobacconist with pagoPA terminal. Tobacconists are convenient but may have queues — online is available 24/7. In Veneto there are no dedicated regional counters for road tax (managed entirely by the Revenue Agency).

After payment, the receipt serves as proof. There is no physical 'sticker' to display on the vehicle since 2014.
