Do I need to apply for the Dedicata a te Card?

No. Selection is completely automatic. Just have a valid ISEE below €15,000 with at least 3 household members and INPS places you on the lists sent to Municipalities. No application to the Municipality or Post Office needed. If selected, you receive a letter at home with the pickup code.

What can I buy with the card?

Only basic food goods, as defined by the decree: meat, fish, dairy, eggs, flour, pasta, rice, bread, fruit, vegetables, legumes, olive oil, baby food, etc. Excluded: alcohol, sugary carbonated drinks, sweets, luxury products, detergents and non-food goods. The shop automatically checks eligible items at checkout.

Who is excluded from the Dedicata a te Card?

Excluded are households receiving at the time of selection: Inclusion Allowance (ADI), Training Work Support (SFL), residual Citizenship Income, NASPI, DIS-COLL, mobility allowance, CIG, unemployment benefit. Also excluded: households with fewer than 3 members or ISEE above €15,000. The rule avoids overlapping subsidies.

When does the 2026 call open?

In recent years (2023, 2024, 2025) the inter-ministerial decree came out between July and September, with municipality lists published between September and December. For 2026 a similar calendar is expected, but dates depend on the Ministry of Labour decree. Check your Municipality website and lavoro.gov.it from June for updates.

What happens if I don't spend all €500 by the deadline?

Remaining amount is reacquired by the Ministry and can no longer be used. That's why it's wise to plan purchases and not wait until the last month. No extensions. If you lose the card or PIN, you can request a duplicate at the Post Office, but the expiration date remains unchanged.

Can I use the card online or outside my Municipality?

The card works at physical POS in participating supermarkets and food shops throughout Italy. It's not usable for online purchases, not even on supermarket platforms. No geographic limits: if on holiday in another region, the card works normally in participating shops.

The "Dedicata a te" Card is a €500 contribution loaded on a Postepay prepaid card, for the purchase of basic food goods. Step-by-step procedure

Check you have an updated ISEE below €15,000

Selection is based on the household's ISEE. You must have a valid ISEE with indicator below €15,000 and at least 3 members. If you don't have one or it's expired, request it immediately on inps.it with SPID (pre-filled DSU, free) or via a CAF. To be on the 2026 lists, the ISEE must have been submitted by the call deadline (usually between April and July).

ISEE submitted after the call deadline don't enter that year's selection: you must wait for the following year.

Wait for the list publication and Municipality letter

INPS cross-checks ISEE data and forwards to Municipalities the lists of potential beneficiaries. The Municipality does further checks (e.g. excludes those already receiving ADI, NASPI, Inclusion Allowance or other subsidies) and publishes the final list. Beneficiaries receive a letter at home or PEC/Municipality portal communication with pickup code and instructions.

If you don't receive the letter by the call deadline, you can check the Municipality website for list publication or ask the URP.

Pick up the Postepay card at a Post Office

With the Municipality letter and valid ID, go to a Post Office indicated by the letter. Sign the delivery form: the card is a standard Postepay, already loaded with €500. You need a temporary PIN delivered with the card; at first use you must change it. You can also activate the Postepay app to check balance.

There's a pickup deadline (typically 60-90 days from notification): past that term you lose the right to the contribution.

Use the card for food purchases within the deadline

The card works like a normal Postepay, but only for purchases in participating supermarkets and food shops (list provided). You can buy: pasta, bread, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, dairy, olive oil, baby products. You cannot buy: alcohol, sugary drinks, non-essential sweets. The amount must be spent by a specific date (usually December 31 or early months of the following year).

Some supermarket chains apply additional discounts (15-20%) on purchases made with this card. Check with your trusted supermarket.

Check the balance and keep receipts

You can check balance: at Postamat ATM, on Postepay app, at postal counter or at Poste toll-free number. Keep receipts for at least 1 year: Municipalities can carry out random checks to verify the contribution was used for eligible goods. Fraudulent use (cash withdrawals, non-food purchases) causes revocation and refund request.

You cannot withdraw cash with the card: the amount is tied to POS in convention shops.
