Civil disability application
Civil disability recognition gives access to economic benefits (monthly allowance from 74%, total disability pension at 100%) and a caregiver allowance for those who are not self-sufficient. The procedure starts with your GP, who certifies the condition online. Then you apply to INPS, which schedules a medical commission visit.

1
Your GP submits the certificateGo to your GP and request the introductory medical certificate for civil disability. The GP submits it online to INPS via the doctors' portal. They give you a certificate number which you will need to apply.
Bring all your medical documentation to your GP: the more complete, the better.
2
Submit the application to INPSLog in to inps.it with SPID or CIE. Go to Benefits > Civil disability and fill in the application entering the medical certificate number. Alternatively, authorise a patronage office (CAF, INCA, ACLI) to do it for you for free.
3
Attend the medical commission visitINPS schedules an appointment at your local ASL. Bring all medical documentation. The commission (made up of INPS and ASL doctors) assesses your condition and determines the disability percentage.
If you cannot travel, you can request a home visit.
4
Receive the report and benefitsINPS sends the report with the recognised disability percentage. Based on the percentage, benefits are automatically triggered: monthly allowance (74-99%), total disability pension (100%), caregiver allowance (if not self-sufficient).
If you disagree with the report you can appeal within 180 days.
