Step-by-step procedure
1
Take the dog to the vet or local health authority
The microchip is inserted for free or at low cost by your local health authority, or by a private vet. The ISO microchip is the European standard (15 digits).
The microchip must be inserted before registration.
2
Registration in the registry
With the microchip number, register at the municipal canine registry or through the regional portal. In many regions you can do it online.
Some regions use the BancaDatiAnimali.it portal.
3
Receive the health booklet
The vet issues a health booklet with mandatory vaccinations. Always keep it with you when travelling with the dog.
4
Annual vaccination renewal
Every year take the dog to the vet for boosters. Some local health authorities send automatic reminders to registered owners.
