If you live abroad but need SPID to access Italian online services (Revenue Agency, INPS, etc.), you can request it from outside Italy. Some providers offer remote verification. This guide explains how.

Step-by-step procedure

Choose a provider that offers remote verification

Main SPID providers that allow remote verification from abroad: Poste Italiane, Aranzulla, Lepida, Namirial. Poste Italiane is easiest from abroad: go to posteIDentity.it and follow the online process. You don't need to go to a physical post office.

Some providers require video identification with an operator (video call).

On the provider's website, create an account with your email and phone number. Upload a scan of your passport/ID (both sides). Verify your email address.

Documents must be legible and current. Expired passport might not work.

Verify your identity via video with operator

The provider will contact you via email/SMS for a video call. You'll need to show your document (passport/ID) in real-time via webcam. The operator verifies your identity. Usually takes 10-15 minutes.

Make sure you have good internet connection and working webcam.

Receive SPID credentials via email
