Step-by-step procedure

Calculate the amount to pay

The amount is calculated by multiplying the engine kW by the regional unit cost (usually €2.58 per kW up to 100 kW and €3.87 for each additional kW). Find the kW on the vehicle registration document or search directly on aci.it using the plate.

Electric vehicles are exempt from vehicle tax for 5 years from registration; after that, many regions apply a reduced rate.

Check the due date

The due date depends on the month of first registration (or last payment). The tax must be paid by the end of the month following the due date. You can check the due date on aci.it or your region's website by entering the plate.

Pay using your preferred method

You can pay: online at aci.it, pagopa.gov.it or through your bank/banking app; at a tobacconist with your tax code and plate; at ACI counters; at the Post Office. Payment is automatically registered in the regional archive.

Keep the payment receipt for at least 5 years.
